Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Hilliard public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Circle K gas station at Roberts and Alton Darby
Council had to decide whether to fold a corner parcel into the Alton Place C-7 sub-area, effectively moving the planned Circle K from the southwest corner of Roberts/Alton Darby to the northeast corner — closer to apartments and townhomes but farther from the Hamilton Ditch stream restoration and better for right-in/right-out traffic. Text changes staff opposed were denied.
Flex Employment Development on Anson Drive
Three buildings totaling 161,700 square feet on 16.875 acres west of Britton Parkway, expected to house research, tech, and clean-manufacturing employers. The site's stream corridor and sewer easement forced an unusual layout needing multiple variances.
Old Chase Bank Site Redevelopment (4056 Main Street)
The City signed off on a Community Reinvestment Area agreement with Norwich and Main Ltd. for a prominent downtown corner: fine dining, retail, office, and new housing in about 21,000 square feet of new space plus 2,200 square feet renovated.
Clover Meadows development on Elliott Road
Hilliard's newest conservation-district subdivision keeps 70% of 79.76 acres as open space and requires the developer to hand 35 acres along Clover Groff Run to Metro Parks. If Metro Parks opts out, the stream restoration likely doesn't happen — the developer said it can't afford it across just 79 lots.
Brown Township Annexations (Elliott Road and Walker Road)
Council finalized two annexations totaling about 84 acres into the city, including the Walker Road site where Hilliard City Schools plans a new elementary school. This brings the land under Hilliard's zoning and services.
Elliott Road Annexation (64.8 acres)
First reading for 19 acres next to Hilliard Memorial Middle School. A school use there needs conditional use approval and about 22 of the 100 reserved public sewer taps.
Community development budget items including Amazon data center air testing
AEP is proposing fuel cells at the Amazon site on Scioto Darby Road and will host a public informational meeting March 5 at 6 p.m. at The Well, with direct mailings to nearby residents.
